1963: I Only Want To Be With You

"I don't know what it is that makes me love you so ..."

Those are the opening words to the 1963 SixtySong, "I Only Want To Be With You". It was written by Mike Hawker and Ivor Raymonde, and recorded by Dusty Springfield in late 1963. According to Wikipedia, Hawker wrote the song about and for his new bride, Jean Ryder. Instead, the song launched Dusty Springfield's solo career, reaching #12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Here's the SixtySongs version - we'll see if this hits any charts at all ...

  1. Another all time favorite for me! Good job, buddy. (I was a junior in hi school and in love with "Steve" - ahhhh, sweet memories!)
